Claire Russo is a Council on Foreign Relations International Affairs Fellow working at The Institute for Inclusive Security. At the Institute, she focuses on expanding the role for women in the U.S. military’s conduct of security and stability operations. As of February, 2012, she is researching the role of women in conflict and developing ways in which the US military can more effectively include women in the force structure.
Previously, Ms. Russo worked in Afghanistan as an adviser on employment of female troops in counterinsurgency operations. Additionally, Ms. Russo has worked on curriculum development and training of female soldiers and marines for programs such as Female Engagement and Cultural Support Teams. Ms. Russo served in the United States Marine Corps as an intelligence officer and holds a BA from Tulane University in International Politics.
