Carnegie Corporation of New York Awards Grant to Inclusive Security

With a discretionary grant of $25,000 awarded by Carnegie Corporation, The Institute for Inclusive Security will explore a strategic partnership with a yet-to-be-chosen African institution of higher education or adult learning. The partnership will increase the Institute’s impact by enlarging the number of women trained using its Curriculum and expanding the African institution’s own curriculum and networks. Inclusive Security will begin conducting outreach in early 2012 and hopes to choose a partner by fall 2012.

The Institute for Inclusive Security’s training program supports women to reduce their marginalization in decisions about peace and security by increasing their knowledge and skills, and their capacity to advocate for women’s inclusion in preventing violence, stopping conflict, and rebuilding communities after turmoil. The trainings and consultations the Institute offers are, according to participant surveys, unique in the field and of great value. The Inclusive Security Toolkit and Curriculum publications are highly effective tools that are regularly applauded as primary resources for individuals and institutions working to strengthen women’s capacity to build peace and prevent war.

African organizations interested in partnering with Inclusive Security on this initiative should contact Allison Shean.
