Medicine Wheel

Medicine Wheel Productions is dedicated to the production of site-specific public art installations, both intimate and large-scaled, that invite people to use art to gain awareness of self, community, and the human condition. The Medicine Wheel model uses the medicine wheel as a metaphor: just as every spoke is essential to the wheel, every member of the youth program is essential to the group, offering something unique and essential to the success of the artwork. Collaborative art forms such as dance or landscape art provide rich opportunities to mentor the youth in putting the Medicine Wheel model into practice. The public art projects challenge the community to appreciate these young people as resources, leaders in creating evocative public art. This model has been very successful in transforming the lives of proven-risk youth for the past decade.
