Farah Council is the program officer for The Institute for Inclusive Security's work in Sudan, where she is responsible for the active coordination, facilitation, and expansion of a coalition of women leaders from all regions in Sudan to advance women's inclusion in ongoing transition processes. In this role Ms. Council works to link women's voices and priorities directly to policy makers and catalyzes strategic advocacy anchored in ongoing transition and reconstruction processes. She also oversees grant management for the Institute related to Sudan. Since joining the Institute in January 2010, she has worked on the organization's development in addition to working with women peacebuilders from Afghanistan and Sudan.

Previously, Ms. Council worked with World Learning in the Civil Society and Governance division, consulted with the UN Development Programme on issues of inclusion of civil society, and coordinated the School for International Training's acclaimed DC-based course, Policy Advocacy for Effective Governance. She has over a decade of experience working in localized community development. Ms. Council recieved her MA in Conflict Transformation from the SIT Graduate Institute and her BA in Political Science from the University of New Mexico.
