Biography

As founder and director of the non-governmental Vesta Association, Amra Seleskovic encourages civic engagement and cross-cultural communication in Bosnia and Herzegovina, supporting the country’s integration into the European community. The organization has assisted more than 500 women into active community and national leadership. Ms. Seleskovic was an electrical engineer until she began working as a journalist during the war to raise women’s visibility and presence in decision-making. She draws on her background as a news editor in radio and television journalism for Vesta Radio, a community radio station operating in Tuzla since 2001. Ms. Seleskovic’s 15 years in civil society include extensive experience as a trainer in gender issues and as an advocate for citizen participation in social movements. In 2008, she facilitated nine public debates about Bosnia’s path to the European Union for the Office of the High Representative and the EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina. She graduated from the University of Tuzla with a bachelor’s degree in electrical science. (01.2010)
