CHF International

CHF International is a catalyst for change in low- and moderate- income communities around the world. CHF has been working with communities abroad since the 1960s to improve their social, economic, and environmental conditions with job creation, stronger businesses, and improved living conditions. CHF helps identify and fill a community's greatest needs, whether that means preventing HIV/AIDS or providing credit for families to improve their homes.

The Initiative for Inclusive Security and CHF International are partnering to achieve two objectives. First, we are undertaking a collaborative project in Voinjama District of Lofa County, Liberia, to encourage women to run for local elections. The project's launch on March 4, 2008 ("Inspiration Day") brought women parliamentarians to Voinjama City to mentor more than 100 local women from more than 30 communities to encourage them to stand for office. Continued training on leadership and civics will enable these women to campaign successfully and be effective local government authorities. And second, we aim to increase the attention to gender in CHF's "Participatory Action for Community Enhancement" manual, a methodology to improve citizens' ability to identify development priorities in their communities and oversee relevant projects.
