Hunt Inclusive Security Fellowships

The Initiative for Inclusive Security recently established the Hunt Inclusive Security Fellowship program to promote research in the field of women, peace, and security. We hope that the fellowship program will spur creative thinking and analysis in this relatively new academic discipline.

The 2008 Hunt fellows hail from three leading institutions in the field of international conflict resolution. They were selected from among eligible graduate and post-graduate students to receive a $1,000 grant.

Maneshka Eliatamby de Silva of the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University will study the "peace zones" created by women's groups in Sri Lanka.

Go Funai of the master's program in conflict resolution at Georgetown University will analyze the role of female heads of state as peacemakers.

Tazreena Sajjad of the School of International Service at American University will research the intersection of women's rights non-governmental organizations and transitional justice processes in Afghanistan.
