Biography 
Nurgul Djanaeva is currently vice president for planning and international relations at the International University of Kyrgyzstan, where she has been a professor since 1993. She also taught social philosophy at the Kyrgyz National University and the Women’s Pedagogical Institute. Dr. Djanaeva founded the Forum of Women’s NGOs in Kyrgyzstan with seven organizations in 1994, and the Forum now includes more than 80 women’s groups. Dr. Djanaeva regularly conducts trainings in Europe and Asia on women’s leadership and gender integration. She is a member of the Fulbright Association of Kyrgyzstan; Asia Pacific Women’s Watch; Eurasian Environmental Information Center in Turkey; and Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law, and Development. Dr. Djaneva has published two books, including Kyrgyzstan Women in Transition, and over 40 articles. She holds a PhD in philosophy from Leningrad State University. (5.2007)
