Biography
Santa Oketta is the Secretary for Community Development in the Gulu District Council of Uganda. In this role Ms. Oketta focuses her energies on children, youth, and women in the district. She is spearheading programs centered on gender issues while overseeing training programs in peace building.
In late 2006, Ms. Oketta participated in a peace caravan, as women carried a torch to the center of Uganda’s peace negotiations in Juba, Sudan to symbolize women’s support for the talks between the government and the rebels. Ms. Oketta is also a trainer in child protection issues. Prior to working with the Gulu District Council, Ms. Oketta was a banking assistant at the Bank of Uganda. She received a certificate in Supervisory Management from the Islamic University in Mbale.
