Biography

Catalina Suárez Pérez is the adviser for new resources for international cooperation in the international cooperation directorate of Colombia’s Presidential Agency for Social Action and International Cooperation. One of her roles is to enhance minority participation in local development initiatives and in assistance for women affected by violence and displacement. As part of the country’s pursuit of sustainable development, Ms. Suárez also coordinates a group of representatives from civil society, the government, embassies, and others. From 2004 to early 2006, she worked as the adviser for technical and social development in the presidential program against illicit crops and alternatives development.
Before joining Alvaro Uribe’s government, Ms. Suárez was a psychologist at the Vermont Medellín School. She performed two psychology research studies and has published more than 10 articles on education. She holds a master’s degree in development, with an emphasis on management, from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, and a bachelor’s degree from that school in psychology.
