Actors' Shakespeare Project

Actors’ Shakespeare Project’s (ASP’s) education and outreach programs make Shakespeare’s words come alive for students of all backgrounds. ASP works with Department of Youth Services girls in treatment and girls in transition between lockup and their home communities. ASP actors visit schools and classrooms of all demographics to engage students using performance techniques. During this year’s Hamlet Residency at the Strand Theatre, ASP members will teach, coach, and mentor students in the Strand’s after-school program. An annual weeklong teacher-training institute empowers area teachers, directors, and social workers to carry ASP’s mission into their classrooms. Through a partnership with Discovering Justice, ASP performs scenes from Shakespeare in courthouses, engaging students and judges in issues of justice. ASP offers student matinees and invites student groups to attend all performances.
