Our Work
PROGRAMS
ARTWorks for Kids
Arts can be life-changing for kids. ARTWorks for Kids strives to increase the private and public funding of arts organizations that transform kids' lives in Eastern Massachusetts. We promote the arts in classrooms, after-school programs, and the larger community to encourage young people to stay on track.
The Institute For Inclusive Security
The Institute for Inclusive Security uses research, training, and advocacy to promote the inclusion of all stakeholders, particularly women, in peace processes. We work with a global network of well over 1000 women leaders from more than 40 conflict regions. Our research gives policymakers new strategies to drive inclusion by examining tangible contributions of women peace builders. Our training provides leaders the specialized skills and knowledge to direct local, national, and international peace-building. Our advocacy to high-level policymakers promotes change that makes peace processes more broad-based, and thus sustainable.
Prime Movers: Cultivating Social Capital
Prime Movers is a national program supporting leaders who engage masses of people to create a more just society. The Fund offers its resources, including financial support, policy contacts, and advocacy expertise, to strengthen these leaders and to encourage the growth of pivotal social movements.
PROJECTS
Demand Abolition
Demand Abolition supports the movement to end modern-day slavery by combating the demand for sex trafficking. By conducting and disseminating research, convening key stakeholders to share best practices, and educating policymakers, Demand Abolition catalyzes systemic social change to reflect the dignity of all people.
Individuals who assume the right to purchase another human being fuel the market that traffickers and pimps supply with victims. The sex trade is inherently dangerous to victims, degrading to perpetrators, and harmful to society. Until demand for commercial sex is eliminated, the sexual enslavement of children, women, and sometimes men will continue.
Increasing Philanthropy
Over the next 50 years, trillions of dollars will be inherited by the next generation of America's wealthiest families. Increasing Philanthropy encourages current and future donors to unleash their philanthropic potential. Our current focus is on Women Moving Millions, a ground-breaking initiative to raise $150 million to advance the lives of women and girls worldwide.
Inspiring Women to Political Leadership
Inspiring Women is a multi-year project combining grant making and international consultations to build a critical mass of women in positions of political leadership around the world. In August 2008, we sponsored Unconventional Women, a nonpartisan symposium with internationally-known leaders and experts intended to inspire the next generation of women to become candidates, leaders, and mentors.
