Biography 
Naomi Chazan is the head of the School of Government and Society at the Academic College of Tel Aviv-Yaffo and spent the past year at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Center for International Studies. From 1992 to 2003 she was a member of Knesset, representing the Meretz (Democratic Israel) party. Dr. Chazan served as a deputy speaker of the Knesset, and as a member of the Foreign Affairs and Defense, Economics, House (Knesset) and Education committees, as well as the Committee on the Status of Women. Dr. Chazan holds BA and MA degrees from Columbia University and a Ph.D. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. (10.2005)
