Mari Fitzduff was recently named professor of coexistance and director of the proposed master’s degree program in the Slifka Program in Intercommunal Coexistance at Brandeis University. In her new role, she will teach and research theoretical and practical methods of ensuring peaceful coexistence. Prior to taking this appointment, Dr. Fitzduff was chair of conflict studies at the University of Ulster and was director of the United Nations University Center for International Conflict Research. Dr. Fitzduff has worked as a consultant addressing conflicts around the world, including those in the Middle East, the post-Soviet Commonwealth of Independent States, and the Basque country. Her most recent book, Beyond Violence: Conflict Resolution Processes in Northern Ireland, is a sourcebook for conflict resolution program development and was published as part of the UN’s Conflict and Governance series.
