Biography

Believing that the critical years for children’s development are ages ten through fourteen and that providing quality education at that time has long lasting influence, Sister Ann Fox cofounded the Paraclete Center in 1997 to provide a learning enrichment center for South Boston youth. In 1999, Sr. Fox forged a friendship with Aloisea Inyumba, formerly the governor of Kigali-Ngali province in Rwanda and recently appointed a senator. Together, they envisioned a free middle school for girls in Rwanda, many of who lost their parents in the genocide, to empower a new generation of strong women leaders. In February 2004, the Paraclete Center acquired a plot of land for the school and will break ground for the first classrooms in November 2005. Sr. Fox was executive director of South Boston Neighborhood House from 1987 to 1997 and prior to that worked in children’s programs in urban areas of Baltimore and New York City. (07.2005)
