Biography

In the years since the start of the current Intifada, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has left thousands dead. As former director of the Palestinian organization the Jerusalem Center for Women, Amneh Badran has been one of the few people to reach out to those across the conflict line. An NGO committed to the protection of human rights, the advancement of women’s rights, and the realization of a Middle East peace based on justice, the Jerusalem Center for Women often cooperates with Bat Shalom, an Israeli women’s organization. Advocating for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the occupied territories, Ms. Badran has directed numerous projects and activities that focus on conflict resolution, coalition building, human rights, and nonviolent resistance. She is now completing her doctorate at the University of Exeter. (05.2006)
