On February 14, 2006, Hunt Alternatives Fund hosted an evening celebration of arts organizations serving under-resourced youth, which featured an inspiring address by Kathleen Gaffney, cofounder and president of Artsgenesis, a live musical performance, and a live auction.

The event, which was held at Artists for Humanity's award-winning Epicenter building, gathered together youth arts organizations, young artists, business leaders, and funders.  Greater Boston Youth Orchestras flautist Brendan Ryan played pieces by Bach and Bizet/Schredin's Carmen as guests mingled and Artists for Humanity youth provided guided tours of the Epicenter building, including their personal studio space.

In sharing her personal story, Kathleen Gaffney eloquently captured the spirit of the event, recognizing the vital role of the arts and drawing attention to the need for increased accessibility to the arts. Watch Kathleen Gaffney's keynote address.

The event concluded with a live auction of a chair that was hand-painted by an Artists for Humanity youth.  The money was donated to the host organization, Artists for Humanity.
