The Max Warburg Courage Curriculum

The Max Warburg Courage Curriculum strengthens the character development and literacy skills of middle school students and empowers children to recognize courage in their own lives.  The program honors the life of Max Warburg, a courageous 11-year-old who died of leukemia in March 1991.  Feeling that their son's story would resonate with other children his age, Stephanie and Jonathan Warburg worked with the Boston Public Schools, a team of PhD candidates from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and educators from across the country to develop The Max Warburg Courage Curriculum. Today, the program is offered across Boston's middle schools. A grant from Hunt Alternatives Fund supports expansion of the arts component of the program.
