Community Music Center of Boston
For 95 years the Community Music Center of Boston (CMCB) has provided music education and related services to diverse constituencies, with an emphasis on reaching those who are unlikely to be taught by private teachers and conservatories. These include students from underserved neighborhoods, as well as special needs populations. Located in Boston's South End, CMCB serves 5,000 individuals annually, most of who are Boston Public School students. A vibrant school, where people of all ages and abilities study, perform, attend concerts and congregate, CMCB offers private and group lessons on all instruments and in voice. In addition, CMCB has extensive school outreach and music therapy departments that service individuals in schools, after-school programs, hospitals, adult day treatment programs, etc. Through the Fund of Nonprofit Partnerships, Hunt Alternatives Fund supports comprehensive vocal and instrumental music programs for students in three Boston elementary schools provided by CMCB.
